Fit for a vampire.. The Hoke House (the Cullen House from Twilight) – Skylab Architecture

UPDATE: Interior Images of the residence from New Moon HERE

Myself and two other architecture students went along to see the new vampire come romance movie twilight..

..We made the mistake of going opening day. Aussie kids are currently on their Christmas break and amoungst them, screaming teens, all hungry for the blood (like vampires.. get it?) of teen heart throb, ex- harry potter star, Robert Pattinson or ‘Edward Cullen’ as those who have seen the movie might know him.

Edward’s room.. see more on it here at Apartment therapy

It might come as a surprise to you, that myself and my friends, all in our twenties (and two of us male..) all swooned at one point..

But it probably wasn’t for the same reason as majority of the audience.

I’m talking about the Cullen’s House..

architect house7

After seeing Manvi’s post for the house featured in twilight over at her blog Mochatini, I decided to do some of my own exploring..

Edward Cullen: “What did you expect? Coffins, and dungeons and moats?”
Bella: “Um..not the moats.”

Well I’m happy to say that there were no coffins, dungeons or moats.. but rather a splendid contemporary home, that’s certainly worth investigating…

architect house6

The Hoke House is by architect Jeff Kovel via ‘Skylab Architecture’ it’s 4300 squares, built by Metcalf Construction, with Lucy Metcalf as the interior designer and landscaper.

architect house2
The amazing symmetry and rough floor looks great, and the (perhaps over used) hanging lamp looks great in this living room.

architect house3

architect house4
The meals and dining area look warm and inviting, a strong use of timber again, simple tables and furniture used effectively.
Notice the floor to ceiling windows wrapping the kitchen that provide great natural lighting as well as splendid green, forest views.

architect house5

The contemporary boxy home is well positioned on the site, the architects have taken advantage of the natural sloping landscape and have strategically placed the home so it looks out over the greenery.

It’s the use of timber that really does if for me, the striking middle floor of three level home creates a nice contrast with the industrial grey of the other stories, and again, relates back to it’s site, fitting in nicely with its green forest setting.

Modern, white and pristine bathrooms

architect house10
Amazing bathroom window/skylight would allows its users to feel very free and open when stripped down and having a shower.

architect house12

The contemporary feel is continued inside the home. The walls are a tradational modern clean cut white, though the clever use of timber is continued into the home as floorboards and on the stairs.

The house is open and bright and naturally well lit through the obvious use of large and multiple windows.
cullenhouse2-1

A bit of a side note, Twilight was a great movie and is definitely worth watching, (i’ve just started the first book also!)
But i’ll leave it up to you to decide which you prefer, the eye candy of Edward Cullen or his home.

This will offer you sufficient time and employ to brainstorm and make sure
what you will be talking about is pertinent and what you need to change in. If
you say because repeatedly, one and only thing people is going

Marquee, Blink and Animated GIFs give life to your site so use them a lot.

Use one or two fixed words in a marquee, for example: “Welcome” or “Hi there” and make
them move all the time from the right of your site to the left, also put at least three animated GIFs
close to one another and make all your headers blink.

Wayne State University Law Professor Jocelyn Benson earned the highest number of votes of any
Democratic candidate in the state, with 1,437,825 votes for 45%, well behind Republican candidate Ruth Johnson, currently Oakland County Clerk, with
a bare majority of 51%. Benson’s percentage in Washtenaw County was 59.28% to Johnson’s 37.30%.
Benson also fared well in her home county of Wayne with
    65.05% to Johnson’s 31.74%, Genesee with 55.54% to Johnson’s 40.21%, and Ingham
with 52.48% to Johnson’s 40.95%. Even so, she lost both Oakland and Macomb counties by respectable margins and was completely crushed in Kent County, the fourth
    most populous in the state.

If you went to college, some hippy photos
(did I just date myself?), or some photos of you looking very different than you did the last 25 years of your life.
Long hair, perms, crazy cloths, wild psychic reading and jewelry all seem to
fit nicely into this section. Then off to marriage and the obligatory wedding
photos and early years together, until you begin to
show your photos of the kids. The kids with you and grandpa and grandma, and of course the kids with the family
at parties, or on vacation. Lastly the recent years, with the pot
belly, and grey hair. The kids grown up and maybe if you were lucky enough to live that long some
photos of you with the grandkids. These usually take up 12
    to 14 photos.

Did you know that you can easily take a screenshot of your
iPad’s screen? It is simple to do. Simply pres Home and then select the Sleep/Wake button.
You screen will begin to flash and then will make a click noise.
This means the screen shot was saved in your
    Photos gallery.

There was a big menu board announcing the evening’s
specials, and we were promptly brought menus for food and drinks.
So far so good. Our server was very pleasant.

If the show you’re riding in asks for hunt seat attire, then you’ll have to wear a riding shirt which
is either white or pinstriped. You’ll also need breeches,
a hunting cap, dress riding boots and a wool riding jacket.

Riding gloves are also customary in these events. Breeches and jacket
can be any color which is dark, but you may want to find out what colors are
“in” before making an investment in them. Being out
of style may not win you favor with the judges or the audience.

Turn off the autocorrect feature if it continues
to mess you up. To use it correctly, you simply tap the
option that is what you want when it is displayed. If
you do not like the options presented to you, simply tap the “X”
to close the suggestion box and finish typing the word you want.
