Fit for a vampire.. The Hoke House (the Cullen House from Twilight) – Skylab Architecture

UPDATE: Interior Images of the residence from New Moon HERE

architect house

Myself and two other architecture students went along to see the new vampire come romance movie twilight..

..We made the mistake of going opening day. Aussie kids are currently on their Christmas break and amoungst them, screaming teens, all hungry for the blood (like vampires.. get it?) of teen heart throb, ex- harry potter star, Robert Pattinson or ‘Edward Cullen’ as those who have seen the movie might know him.

Edward’s room.. see more on it here at Apartment therapy

It might come as a surprise to you, that myself and my friends, all in our twenties (and two of us male..) all swooned at one point..

But it probably wasn’t for the same reason as majority of the audience.

I’m talking about the Cullen’s House..

architect house7

After seeing Manvi’s post for the house featured in twilight over at her blog Mochatini, I decided to do some of my own exploring..

Edward Cullen: “What did you expect? Coffins, and dungeons and moats?”
Bella: “Um..not the moats.”

Well I’m happy to say that there were no coffins, dungeons or moats.. but rather a splendid contemporary home, that’s certainly worth investigating…

architect house6

The Hoke House is by architect Jeff Kovel via ‘Skylab Architecture’ it’s 4300 squares, built by Metcalf Construction, with Lucy Metcalf as the interior designer and landscaper.

architect house2
The amazing symmetry and rough floor looks great, and the (perhaps over used) hanging lamp looks great in this living room.

architect house3

architect house4
The meals and dining area look warm and inviting, a strong use of timber again, simple tables and furniture used effectively.
Notice the floor to ceiling windows wrapping the kitchen that provide great natural lighting as well as splendid green, forest views.

architect house5

The contemporary boxy home is well positioned on the site, the architects have taken advantage of the natural sloping landscape and have strategically placed the home so it looks out over the greenery.

It’s the use of timber that really does if for me, the striking middle floor of three level home creates a nice contrast with the industrial grey of the other stories, and again, relates back to it’s site, fitting in nicely with its green forest setting.

Modern, white and pristine bathrooms

architect house10
Amazing bathroom window/skylight would allows its users to feel very free and open when stripped down and having a shower.

architect house12

The contemporary feel is continued inside the home. The walls are a tradational modern clean cut white, though the clever use of timber is continued into the home as floorboards and on the stairs.

The house is open and bright and naturally well lit through the obvious use of large and multiple windows.

A bit of a side note, Twilight was a great movie and is definitely worth watching, (i’ve just started the first book also!)
But i’ll leave it up to you to decide which you prefer, the eye candy of Edward Cullen or his home.

Yes, even after everything listing down, you still have to sit and compose an entire response, the same way you’d write any essay.
This will offer you the required time and employ to brainstorm and be sure what you’re currently talking about is pertinent and what you would like to make in. Run-on sentences occur as a result of not enough punctuation and happen if you become
    lost in your essay.

  12. When ever making a new kitchen or renovating an existing
kitchen, it is highly recommended and a good idea to keep an open mind and find out everything possible – at the conclusion of the process,
it will definitely pay off. Here are some common myths about
the design process as well as results:

“You can certainly add later” -the best planning is to take into account and add all the characteristics of the kitchen at
the planning and as well as or renewal stages, and not at a later stage.
For example, in case you are not thinking about putting in a flat screen TELEVISION SET in the
kitchen space or if you do not currently have a water dispenser, the best thing is
to make for future installation of these and plan power, communication and water details and keep the choices
open up. Also, since the kitchen is supposed to provide us for several years, it is a
good idea to measure all existing ergonomic solutions such as drawer drawers, cabinet style dishwashers, and so
forth Even if you are young and fit at the moment, these additions will prove themselves Mobility
later on. Either way, if you prefer to deal with
kitchen planning in stages – one aspect or specific area at a time – be certain to
plan carefully so that everything will fit in stylistic and functional harmony when the kitchen will finally be complete.

” I do not have so many things” – whether we like it or not, your kitchen has substantial potential for ruining due to multitude of items trapped in it,
which is why space is sufficient to store, This means that
there is a relative shortage of overhead storage cupboards, so it is important to balance
    function and style.

“Bigger Better” – Your kitchen space is large and you need a huge kitchen, but
then you will find yourself going back and on from one
machine to another, in addition to this situation,
preferably in the look stages, consider adding a job sink
beside the refrigerator or Reduce the need to cross these distances,
and there is without a doubt that these enhancements mean additional costs, and
if your budget is limited, it is obviously well worth considering a compact kitchen.

“I do not desire a designer ” -not every kitchen design project requires a designer, but many people need
someone to help us see the overall picture and regulate the work.
Renting consult with an architect or designer does involve quite a lot
of cost, but in the long run it is around conserving money
and time. In case you have a very clear picture of what you want, do not save
the expense of a designer as it can best fulfill ideal.

Proper and efficient planning of your kitchen and coordination between all the many professionals engaged in building your kitchen by a designer could keep your project within the as well
as budget, save you unnecessary money and
needless problems and particularly keep your sanity.
