Abhijeet Kumar – Industrial Designer

The 'Welcome Chair'

An “industrial designer by profession” Abhijeet Kumar, based in Ahmedabad, says he was initially inspired by his family: “It was quite natural since my uncle was an artist and I saw him draw all the time”. However, it wasn’t until he discovered the work of industrial designer Raymond Leowy that he decided to make his creative passion into a career.

Kumar studied at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad but claims that ultimately, all students at the institute were self taught. “The institute prescribes to the idea of learning by doing, so almost everybody is a self taught designer here, influenced by the institute”.

Of course, Kumar’s interests extend beyond design. Lately he says he has been trying to figure out classical music, “‘fiddling’ around with a violin”, but Kumar is now also striving to manufacture his own products, embodying his individual creative vision.

Kumar says that “it’s the most banal things around us” that inspire him and his work. “Daily life [fascinates me]”, he says, “the system in general, how people are connected to each other by strange means, how things around us start influencing a behaviour, how products are altered by people using them”. He is currently working on a rocking chair which he insists “is not rocking in the conventional sense, but is enjoyable nevertheless”… stay tuned!

"A paper prototype of a chandelier i'm planning to make in mirror polished stainless steel; lit with LEDs."

Though he believes it is too early in his life to advise people, Kumar maintains that the most important thing for young designers today is to “be original and believe in yourself”.

You know, they say, the devil is in the details… And that could not be more true right here. Having said that, permit me inform you just what did deliver the results. Your text is definitely very powerful and that is probably the reason why I am making an effort in order to opine. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, while I can easily notice a leaps in reason you come up with, I am not necessarily convinced of exactly how you seem to connect your details which inturn produce your conclusion. For now I will, no doubt subscribe to your issue but trust in the foreseeable future you link the facts much better.

  36. One thing I’d really like to say is that often before buying more laptop or computer memory, look at the machine within which it will be installed. In the event the machine can be running Windows XP, for instance, the memory ceiling is 3.25GB. Setting up in excess of this would just constitute a new waste. Be sure that one’s mother board can handle your upgrade amount, as well. Interesting blog post.

  37. It’s difficult to find educated people in this particular subject, but you sound like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks

  38. I have learned result-oriented things via your weblog. One other thing I want to say is that newer computer system operating systems have a tendency to allow more memory to be played with, but they additionally demand more memory simply to function. If your computer can not handle far more memory along with the newest application requires that storage increase, it is usually the time to shop for a new PC. Thanks
