Abhijeet Kumar – Industrial Designer

The 'Welcome Chair'

An “industrial designer by profession” Abhijeet Kumar, based in Ahmedabad, says he was initially inspired by his family: “It was quite natural since my uncle was an artist and I saw him draw all the time”. However, it wasn’t until he discovered the work of industrial designer Raymond Leowy that he decided to make his creative passion into a career.

Kumar studied at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad but claims that ultimately, all students at the institute were self taught. “The institute prescribes to the idea of learning by doing, so almost everybody is a self taught designer here, influenced by the institute”.

Of course, Kumar’s interests extend beyond design. Lately he says he has been trying to figure out classical music, “‘fiddling’ around with a violin”, but Kumar is now also striving to manufacture his own products, embodying his individual creative vision.

Kumar says that “it’s the most banal things around us” that inspire him and his work. “Daily life [fascinates me]”, he says, “the system in general, how people are connected to each other by strange means, how things around us start influencing a behaviour, how products are altered by people using them”. He is currently working on a rocking chair which he insists “is not rocking in the conventional sense, but is enjoyable nevertheless”… stay tuned!

"A paper prototype of a chandelier i'm planning to make in mirror polished stainless steel; lit with LEDs."

Though he believes it is too early in his life to advise people, Kumar maintains that the most important thing for young designers today is to “be original and believe in yourself”.

Aw, this was a very nice post. In concept I wish to put in writing like this additionally – taking time and precise effort to make a very good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and not at all seem to get one thing done.

  25. Every business really should have a communication page.
Websites ranging in dimensions and class originating from
a local restaurant to some Fortune 500 company, have contact pages.
Within current startup I’ve come across many requests… from your pizza delivery guy letting us
know he was at the front end door to potential investors looking to
    talk with his management team.

When you are setting up your contact page (and finding the traffic volume of your local restaurant) would likely not want to think about how to handle your contact requests when traffic increases.
    But the truth is should.

Look at creating automation that alerts support, sales and other stakeholders with your company when an e-mail request comes through.
You may create a dropdown field in an application for forms of contact
requests. You’ll be able to setup logic in most marketing automation platforms that sends email alerts to the appropriate resource inside your startup
determined by what sort of request the viewer selects.

I’m buried with contact requests even as launched beta.
As a cloud-based product I saw many product support requests.
So that we mapped form submissions on our contact page to develop support tickets in Zendesk.

Ensure that you arrange redundancies so contact requests
(important ones!) don’t explore just one recipient’s inbox.
You can alert multiple recipients, create reminder emails, or
trigger automatic replies to contact requests with information that might solve their problem.
This is all a breeze to put together with all-in-one marketing platforms like HubSpot.
